It is truly a great honour and a significant moment of personal pride for me to join the S.C. Gaw family as the school’s new principal. I am eager to start work in continuing the school’s noble tradition of providing an effective and invaluable all- round education to each and every one of our students. Here at S.C. Gaw the aim has always been to raise students up to where they can reach their full potential in both academic and non-academic domains and, under my leadership, we will remain utterly committed to this goal.
To say that our school has deep roots is an understatement. We are run by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, the oldest and most renowned charity organization in Hong Kong. You can feel the support and guidance of the Tung Wah Group in the influence of our former chairman and current Supervisor, Mr. Ivan Sze. There’s also the legacy of our great founder, after whom the school is named in recognition of his contributions to society. That legacy continues with his descendant, Ms. Christina Gaw, who is also a member of the Incorporated Management Committee of the school in representation of the school’s donor family. With strong support and guidance from the School Sponsored Body and various stake holders, the school has a solid background in enabling students to excel in learning, as well as in their personal development.
Since its establishment in 1984, the school has enjoyed a good and well-earned reputation in the district. This was cemented with positive feedback from numerous inspections from the Quality Assurance Section of the Education Bureau. However, I am determined that we should not rest on our laurels, but instead that we should allow these achievements to spur us on to greater ones. Together, the school’s excellent team of teachers and I will make our students shine.
