Using movies for education is an excellent way to strengthen English language learning outside the traditional classroom. In addition to improving language skills, analyzing movies helps students develop critical thinking and analytical problem-solving abilities. With these learning goals in mind, a movie appreciation activity was organized for all S.2 and S.3 students to watch the newly released animation, Toy Story 5 on 25th June at Broadway Cinema in Kwai Fong.

In this movie, the iconic characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear face a highly contemporary challenge. They have to compete for their owner Bonnie's attention against a high-tech smart tablet named Lilypad. The story highlights how Bonnie becomes addicted to her screen while trying to fit in at school. Ultimately, the movie teaches an important lesson about striking a balance between online distractions and real-world friendships.

Our students were completely captivated from start to finish by this funny and moving film, which kept them fully engaged with its lively characters and touching scenes. The movie's excellent blend of comedy and emotion deeply connected with the young audience, making the event both fun and educational. Ultimately, the activity was a major success. The students thoroughly enjoyed the movie and left the cinema motivated to find a healthier balance with their own screen time.
