Movie watching is an effective way to help students learn English outside their classroom. It not only enhances their language skills but also fosters critical thinking and analytical abilities in problem-solving. Building on this idea, a movie appreciation activity was organized for all S.2 and S.3 students on 26th June at Broadway Cinema in Kwai Fong. The film selected for this event was Elio, a 2025 American animated science fiction adventure produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures.

The story centers on an eleven-year-old boy named Elio Solís (Kibreab). He unexpectedly becomes the intergalactic ambassador of Earth after being beamed up to the Communiverse by aliens during an encounter. Elio must forge new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms and navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, which involves the warlord father of a friend he befriends.

This amusing and touching movie captivated our students from start to finish, keeping them fully engaged with its vibrant characters and heartfelt moments. The film’s mix of humour and emotion resonated strongly with the audience, creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone involved. Overall, it was much appreciated by all students, who left the cinema feeling inspired and entertained.
