Pre-S1 Summer Induction Programme

To help Pre-S1 students better prepare for their secondary school life, our school provides a bridging course for all new students every August. This approach allows new S1 students to understand our school culture, build their subject foundation and develop a strong confidence in their learning. However, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) this year, our 2020 arrangements were hindered. The annual Pre-S1 Summer Bridging Course was finally replaced by an online Zoom Induction Programme.

The 3-day Induction Programme was held between 27th and 31st August 2020 to help Pre-S1 students familiarize with secondary school life and prepare them for the English learning in the new school year. After listening to speeches delivered by the Vice-Principals, discipline teachers and school social workers, all Pre-S1 students attended Zoom English lessons taught by the NET and S.1 English teachers. Through participating in these online lessons, students were provided with chances to communicate with teachers in English and their confidence in learning English was enhanced. In addition to teaching, assignments were given to help teachers understand the Pre-S1 thoroughly before the commencement of school in September. On 31st August, students also joined an orientation program designed by the Peer Group Leaders and learnt more about the school. Students were engaged throughout the course and enjoyed learning in S C Gaw.
